Presented by Arts Nova Scotia and the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council, the Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala will take place on Saturday, November 7, at the Halifax Central Library.
Tickets are free of charge and will be available on October 23. To secure your ticket online, please visit the Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala’s EventBrite page. Doors for the event will open at 7:30 pm and guests are encouraged to dress according to the theme: as LOUD as possible!
Marking its 10th Anniversary, the Gala is an annual celebration of the arts and artists in Nova Scotia, and it features the presentation of the following important awards:
- The Established Artist Recognition Awards
- The Community Arts and Culture Recognitions Award
- The Lieutenant Governor Masterworks Award
- The Prix Grand Pré
- The Portia White Prize
This year’s theme, Art Out Loud, reflects the award finalists and winners who work tirelessly, sometimes against serious obstacles, dedicating their lives towards a career in the cultural industry.
To honour these achievements, Artistic Directors Mireille Bourgeois (IOTA) and Jeremy Webb (Off The Leash Creative) have invited over twenty talented artists to participate in the evening’s event, offering collaborative artistic expression that shows the diversity of artistic vocation in the province; visual, media, performance, light and sound designer, craft and installation have all been included to perform and present their work throughout the evening adding to the vigor of the thematic, emphasizing that Art is Out Loud.
Representing pioneers of the Nova Scotia arts and culture sector, the dynamic evening will include the artistry of Desiree Adams, Lukas Pearse, Arianne Pollet-Brannen, Leigh Ann Vardy, Lydia Zimmer, Hannah Levin McGrath, Annie Onyi Cheung, and Cory Bowles.
Emerging curators Mollie Cronin, Amanda Shore and Sara Roth with mentors Susan Hanrahan and James MacSwain will also feature in the evening’s programming through a screening of video shorts, and a pop-up exhibition where audience members will be able to purchase an original piece of art from this curated selection. The final touch for the night is the contribution of cellist Benjamin Marmen, who is creating a dynamic musical quartet to fire up the audience.
