Strategic Plan

The Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council plays an important role in leading Nova Scotia’s cultural strategy and providing insight and vision to grow the province’s creative economy. The Council’s strategic plan outlines key priorities for the near and longer-term future. It is reviewed annually and adapted to meet the changing needs of the sector and the arts and culture community. The Council’s strategic plan includes the following priorities:

  • Status of the Artist Legislation – Support and promote the implementation of the newly introduced Status of the Artist Act and its principles.
  • Creative Economy Emphasis - Develop strategic initiatives that will foster winning conditions for Nova Scotia’s creative industries.
  • Outreach - Develop and implement an outreach strategy to foster communications between Council, the department and the arts communities.
  • Communications - Strengthen communications from Council and the department with the arts and arts communities across the province.
  • Arts Endowment Fund - Establish an endowment fund that would provide the means for the Nova Scotia arts and culture sector to maximize funding opportunities from the private sector by establishing a provincial matching fund program and enabling participants to take advantage of the federal matching fund program.
  • Cultural Tourism - Advise the Minister and government regarding strategic opportunities, initiatives and policy, fostering growth and development of the cultural tourism industry.
