The Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, Tony Ince participated in the monthly Council meeting held Wednesday, May 21st. He shared what the department was working on and heard about our current and upcoming initiatives. His enthusiasm for culture was evident and we are excited about his vision and approach to the sector strategy.
Chris Shore, director of Arts Nova Scotia and Craig Beaton, director of programs for CCH attended the meeting and shared updates on how program funds have been invested so far through various programs like the newer Support4Culture program.
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is currently running a survey to gather information for the education curriculum review. Let your voice be heard around the value of arts and culture in our education system. https://www.ednet.ns.ca/educationreview/ Council will be making a submission as well.

The Department of Canadian Heritage has just launched the Toronto 2015 Pan American & Parapan American Games Community Celebrations Fund to support cultural activities that will be held across Canada for the 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games. This new $3.6 million fund will allow organizations, educational institutions and governments to organize celebrations and community activities over the next two years and throughout the Games.
