Building Back Better – A Vision for Culture Sector Recovery in Nova Scotia

Through virtual sessions, individual one-on-one consultations, and an email survey, the CNSLC heard from more than 200 stakeholders about their concerns, recommendations, and visions for the arts and culture sector as the province begins to plan its post-COVID-19 recovery strategies. The report provides valuable insights into what the council heard directly from sector colleagues in regards to revitalizing and re-envisioning the future of the arts and culture sector following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Culture in Action: Demonstrating the Social Benefits of Culture

In numerous exciting and inspiring ways, Nova Scotia is enacting a shift toward a broader understanding of the value of culture to society.  This report focuses on “social benefits” – concerning more intangible and interdepartmental ways that culture inspires us, challenges us, heals us and strengthens us.

Culture Now: For positive Economic and Social Outcomes 2015

In July 2015 the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council spoke to the One Nova Scotia Coalition and presented it with the following paper. The document explains in brief some of the ways that culture – as a cornerstone of one of the fastest growing segments of the of the global creative economy – can be a leading contributor to improved social and economic outcomes in Nova Scotia.

Culture: Nova Scotia's Future 2014

Using the culture sector as its primary lens and taking into account development strategies and policies from around the world, this document was developed by the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council in order to capture several years of work on critical issues pertaining to the culture sector and this province's ongoing development. “Culture: Nova Scotia's Future” offers insight on the creative economy and on arts and culture in general, providing a snapshot of the vast opportunities that could be developed for government and for Nova Scotians.
